Membership fees

Fees for the 2023/24 academic year are as follows:

  • Full academic year: £45.00
  • Half year (January to June): £25.00

The Athletic Union charge an annual membership fee for access to all sports clubs and facilities. We don't control this but it is the same no matter which sports club you join.

Benefits

Your aikido club membership includes the following:

  • up to three classes a week
  • high quality instruction and support from fully qualified teachers
  • insurance via the British Aikido Board (UK governing body)
  • membership to the Fudoshin Aikido Association
  • an aikido beginners guidebook
  • a grading book to record your progress
  • discounted training kit and equipment
  • inclusive social events throughout the year​

In addition, we run several weekend aikido courses throughout the year, featuring some of the best instructors in Europe and beyond. These courses are great for your ongoing development and are heavily subsidised by the Fudoshin Aikido Association, with discounted admission for students. What if I don't study at Cardiff University?

The club is run by, and primarily for, students at Cardiff University.

It is possible for us to accept associate members, however.

For example:

  • members of staff at Cardiff University
  • students at other local institutions

Please come along for a free class anyway and speak to one of our committee officers, as there is an associate membership application process we must follow.
